shout out

over the last several days i have gotten back in touch with an old college friend.  the correspondence has come as a pleasant surprise.  now i know why i've been thinking of her and thinking i should write to her!

the strength and support i've gained through this renewed friendship came in time for a particularly tough last few days.  nothing short of a tender mercy of the Lord.

here is part of Elder David A. Bednar's talk, The Tender Mercies of the Lord, given in april 2005:

Through personal study, observation, pondering, and prayer, I believe I have come to better understand that the Lord’s tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, the Lord suits “his mercies according to the conditions of the children of men” (D&C 46:15).

Some may count this experience as simply a nice coincidence, but I testify that the tender mercies of the Lord are real and that they do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence.




i am grateful for this tender mercy in my life.  i am grateful for the hope that we can have through our Savior, Jesus Christ.  and i'm grateful to be back in contact with this girl : )
